“He is LORD of Heaven and Earth”

“Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, Him declare I unto you.” Acts 17:22-23

Paul identified the unknown GOD whom they ignorantly worshipped, as, “…GOD that made the world and all things therein…”  The conclusion drawn by Paul from this fact was, He is LORD of heaven and earth….(Acts 17:24)

LORD– (Greek) kurios koo’-ree-os from κῦρος kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority; controller… by implication Mr. (as a respectful title): – God, Lord, master, Sir. (Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary)

As LORD of heaven and earth, He is the absolute highest authority. This should settle all disputes regarding right and wrong. As Creator, He has the power to provide instructions for me to follow and it is my duty to follow them. He has the right to decide what is moral and immoral. He is in control of the guidelines regarding how He wants me to worship Him. I am not at liberty to worship Him how I want to, or think is best. Neither do I have the freedom to establish my own rules regarding morality and expect Him to accept it. I have a responsibility to maintain HIS standard. When I fail to do that, I am rebelling against the highest authority of heaven and earth.
