Someone is watching, what do they see?

Nearly everyone looks up to someone. Little brother sees big brother and wants to be like him. The young son, like his father, or the daughter, her mother. Perhaps it is a grandparent, coach, teacher, preacher, an elder or spiritual matriarch. Whatever hat or hats we wear, for those watching with the intent to follow our lead, what do they see?

Timothy was instructed, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1st Timothy 4:12

To Titus, “In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.” Titus 2:7-8

Timothy was told to be an example, Titus, a pattern. Both English words are the Greek word, tύπος tupos too’-pos From G5180- a die (as struck), (by implication) a stamp or scar; by analogy a shape, a statue, (figuratively) style or resemblance; specifically, a sampler (“type”), a model (for imitation) or instance (for warning): – en- (ex-) ample, fashion, figure, form, manner, pattern, print. (Strongs)

To each, the charge is tremendous, you are being watched, therefore, be a model that can be replicated for good. Live in such a way, that those watching who follow your example, will see a blueprint for holiness. They would only be successful by following in the footsteps of Christ.

The same is true for us. Our example is only good when we follow in the footsteps of Christ. When we fail to follow Christ, we not only place our soul in jeopardy, but likewise endanger the souls of others who may be looking to our example. Appreciate the fact that others are looking to you as a pattern to follow, give them Christ. Whether you are the watcher or the one being watched, always remember the right choice every time is to choose to follow GOD.
