Belief Unto Life

“…these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” John 20:31

To say I believe in Jesus is more than just a statement. What must follow, for that statement to have any substance, kept many from ever moving past belief in the 1st century and has kept many from confessing and following Jesus to this very day. What had to follow was a commitment. A commitment to one who ate with sinners. One who was not interested in waging a literal war with the Romans. One who was not interested in establishing a kingdom of brick and mortar. One who had nowhere to lay His head. It was a commitment to one who had some radical ideas. Love your enemy? Pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you? This man was talking about dying and He was encouraging those who would follow, deny yourself and take up your cross and follow daily.

Because of what was required many who believed would not confess and follow therefore the life that is talked about in John 20, could not be their life.

If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, do not let fear keep you from confessing Him. Confess and act upon that truth by obeying what He calls on you to do.
