14 practical lessons I have learned in life that may aid another in caring for their own emotional and mental health.
#1 Bottling up your feelings and consistently trying to please others will leave you emotionally and physically exhausted.
#2 Trying to build a bridge of peace when another does not desire peace will never be more than a bridge half built.
#3 Taking blame when you feel as though you are not to blame is not good for your mental health.
#4 It is toxic to make major life decisions based upon what others want and think.
#5 Physically and emotionally sacrificing yourself for others can make for an exhausting life. Be sure it is worth it.
#6 When people know than can use you, they will.
#7 There is a difference between being able to be depended on and being used. Learn the difference.
#8 You will continue to be used as long as you allow yourself to be.
#9 Users will criticize and speak evil of you when you decide to not allow yourself to be used anymore.
#10 Life is short, be genuine.
#11 Taking the high road and putting others first is an admirable path. However, in doing so, do not allow yourself to become a doormat.
#12 Stop apologizing for being real.
#13 Answer honestly, not the way you think others want you to.
#14 Be accountable, others are not always to blame.
