“What are we teaching? How are we living? What do they see? Will they know GOD?”

After the death of Joshua and his generation, “…there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.” (Judges 2:10) The fruit of ignorance is found in the verses that follow.

“…the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals. And they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They went after other gods, from among the gods of the people who were around them, and bowed down to them and they provoked the LORD to anger.” Judges 2:11-12

A failure to know GOD and all the things which he had done, resulted in the participation of pagan worship. This generation was said to have abandoned the Lord and provoked Him to anger. When we are gathered unto our fathers, what will be said of the ensuing generation? A local church will not be standing 100 years into the future simply because it exists today. Our descendants will not be faithful simply because we claim to be now. In fact, the local church we attend may cease to be because of our actions. Likewise, the generation forthcoming, may never come to Christ because of our current servitude. What are we teaching? How are we living? What do they see? Will they know GOD?

(Deuteronomy 4:7-10, 6:4-8, 31:7-10)
