“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” 1st Peter 1:3
Being born again does nothing to our fleshly body. Our new birth should result in us using our body as a vessel of honor, but our physical body will continue to age. If sick, being born again will not take away the sickness. It will not make us younger; our fleshly body will still expire. Being born again is a rebirth of the spirit. The 2nd birth allows our spirit to be born into a life in which we may live forever.
This is why Peter says we are “begotten again unto a living hope…” Being begotten again unto a living hope speaks of entering into a life that is not temporary but rather eternal. This new birth is a reality and produces eternal fruit because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. One may be begotten again unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
