Embracing the Light of Christ (John 1:4-12)

The word light is used six times in (John 1:4-9) regarding Jesus. The Son of GOD was clearly present and active in the creation of this world. (John 1:1-3) The world He created was one of light, made dark by sin. Jesus came in response as light Himself to give life to all men. The forerunner of the Christ, John the Baptist came to bear witness of the Light, so “…that all through him might believe.” (John1:7) Many rejected the light, choosing rather to walk in darkness. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” (John 1:12)

A couple of thoughts to consider regarding Jesus as light.

We have the privilege of being a child of GOD by receiving the light, which is the Christ and believing in His name.

John came for a witness to bear witness of the Light, while some things about John’s work was unique, we still have the responsibility to bear witness of the Light revealed to us in the word of GOD that all might believe. By receiving and believing all might have life through His name.

Receive, believe, and help others see the Light.
