“…Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthian’s hearing believed, and were baptized.” Acts 18:8.
“And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.” Acts 18:11.
The Corinthians heard, believed, and were baptized. Paul spent 18 months afterwards teaching them the word of God. One’s understanding of God’s must progress. The Corinthians had begun their journey by dying with Christ and rising to live a new life, distinct from their past. However, it was essential for them to continue growing in this new life and not fall back into old habits. If the inheritance is meant for those reborn unto a living hope, may we revert to our former self and still expect to receive the inheritance? For one born again, the old has passed away, and all things have become new.
(CEV) Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.
(GW) Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. (The old way of living has disappeared…)
The old things are gone. Salvation is not the end; it is the beginning. As new creations, we must live anew, fed by the word of God. Paul’s 18 months with the Corinthians were spent imparting God’s word. It is essential for a child of GOD to continue growing, distancing themselves from their old life and embracing the new.
