Viewing oneself as the most important individual in a setting and concentrating only on one’s own interests leads a path of selfishness. However, placing others’ needs before our own eliminates selfish motives and vanity. Developing the trait of humility is essential in learning the importance of valuing others above oneself. When we stop caring about who gets the credit and just work together, good things will happen.
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
