Wisdom is prepared to meet the needs of those who lack her and equipped to keep those who possess her. Her house has a solid foundation and is fully furnished. She carved out her seven pillars, demonstrating the soundness of her structure. Likewise, she has slaughtered her meat, mixed her wine, and furnished her table. Wisdom has prepared a full-course meal that will make one wise unto salvation. (Proverbs 9:1-2)
(Proverbs 9:3-6) She sends out her maidens to invite the simple to enter her fully furnished house. The simple one lacks wisdom, particularly godly wisdom, and consequently lacks the security and nourishment that wisdom’s home provides. To him who lacks understanding, wisdom’s messengers cry out, “Come and eat the bread of wisdom. Drink the wine that I have mixed. Forsake foolishness, and the result will be life.”
Forsake foolishness; abandon it and live. Foolishness is like a ball and chain attached to our ankle; it will keep us from excelling, thriving, and obtaining eternal life. Wisdom’s call is to forsake her, abandon her, leave her, come into my house and live; go in the way of understanding; make knowledge and (godly wisdom) the course of life that you pursue.
