What we say only has value if our actions are consistent with our words.
In 1st John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with Him, the supportive action will be walking in the light. Just saying we have fellowship with GOD does not make it so. If we say we do but are walking in darkness we are lying. We cannot say one thing, do something else and be consistent.
If we say we have no sin, does that mean we have no sin? John says the one who says this deceives themselves. 1st John 1:8 Not only are we self-deceived, 1st John 1:10, says,If we say that we have not sinned, we make GOD out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
Do we know GOD just because we say we do? If we say we know GOD, the evidence should be keeping what He commands. John writes, “…for the one who says they know Him but does not keep His commandments, is a liar and the truth is not in him.” 1st John 2:4 To keep means “…to observe or to give heed to…” We are to listen carefully to what GOD commands and in turn conform our action or practice to those commands. It is not just about saying we are but actually being what we claim to be.
He who says, he abides in Him, does not necessarily mean that He abides in Him. If you really abide in Him, you will walk as He walked.
1st John 2:6
Someone may claim, I am in the light. We may say that, but the reality is, if we hate our brother we are in darkness. 1st John 2:9
What we say only has value if our actions are consistent with our words.
