The Dangers of Traditions that Replace God’s Commands

Religious confusion often arises from a failure to study which can is harmful and eventually fatal to the soul if left unresolved. In Mark 7, when the Scribes and Pharisees questioned Jesus about His disciples not following the elders’ tradition, Jesus pointed out their hypocrisy. They were binding traditions as if they were God’s law, neglecting His actual commandments. While traditions are not inherently bad, they become problematic when they replace or alter God’s commands, rendering worship meaningless in His eyes. Teaching personal traditions as God’s truth will ultimately contradict God’s word, creating confusion. The solution is, we must set aside opinions and traditions, speak where the Bible speaks, and remain silent where it is silent.
