The Cost of Compromise in Christian Culture

A spirit of compromise has invaded our Christian culture. Fear that if we do not keep up with the times and be politically correct we are going to be silenced or fail to grow as a church; therefore, an effort is made to make it more accommodative, inclusive and convenient. Rather than improving the spiritual climate, purging out of spiritual strength occurs. The long-term effects are disastrous. The fruit of a decision to depart from the truth is a continued road of apostasy that leads to captivity.

In 1st Kings 12:25-32, King Jeroboam made golden calves, encouraged the people to worship them, rejected godly priest, and appointed unauthorized priest to sacrifice. Why? Because he feared that the people from his tribes would go to Jerusalem to the house of the Lord to offer sacrifices and turn on him. Although GOD assured him, “…if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, I will be with you and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.” 1st Kings 11:37-38 Rather than trusting GOD, Jeroboam feared man and was responsible for running off those who would have been his most loyal subjects spiritually. His decision crippled the northern tribes of Israel to a point where they never returned.

“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” Proverbs 29:25

Accommodative, inclusive and convenient, sounds a lot like the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction, and MANY go in there at.

Do not fear man, rather trust GOD. Choose the narrow gate, although the way is difficult, it is the way that leads to life. Matthew 7:13-14
