If you have fifty dollars in your wallet and it is taken from you, what will it take for your wallet to return to its previous state?
Ten dollars will not work, neither will twenty. Forty-Nine dollars and ninety-nine cents will not be sufficient; all of these amounts would leave your wallet incomplete regarding its previous state.
Perfection was taken from man in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3
What was necessary for man to return to his previous state?
What was taken must be restored. Just as a wallet would be incomplete if anything other than what was lost was returned, a person’s state would be incomplete if anything less than perfection were restored. The problem is, we do not have the ability within ourselves to make that restoration. All sin and fall short of the glory of GOD Romans 3:23.
The standard for a restoration sacrifice required that one be a sinless man.
This narrows the list down to one individual. His name was Jesus and He came to save His people from their sins.
If Jesus were to fulfill the work given to Him, when the time came for Him to shed His blood He must arrive at the place and time of the sacrifice having lived a sinless life. How difficult would this be?
Jesus “…made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men…” Philippians 2:7
“…in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren.” Hebrews 2:17
How much of a challenge would it be to arrive at the appointed time and place of the sacrifice; sinless?
It was a challenge that required the strongest of faith, deepest of trust and greatest display of humility imaginable. Yet, Jesus was victorious. Jesus“…was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15
Leaving the glories of heaven and subjecting Himself to the frail state of humanity, when the time came to shed His blood, He Humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, upon the cross. Philippians 2:8
2nd Corinthians 5:17-21
In Christ, GOD reconciled to world to Himself, eternally bridging the gap created by sin. Our responsibility is to walk across that bridge.
