GOD is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. (2nd Peter 3:9) What a blessing it is to know that our Creator wants an eternal relationship with us. His desire for us is that we be saved, however, He will not force us. He has given us freedom of choice. We may choose to love Him or reject Him. The only reason we have this choice is because of His great love. No one forces GOD to love us, neither does He force us to love Him. Yet His love should motivate us to choose Him. We are blessed if we choose His forgiveness. Sins forgiven by GOD are covered; they are put aside. God does not take an inventory or reckoning of forgiven sins as if they still need pardoning. The debt has been paid, and that bill will not surface again. (Romans 4:7-8)
With GOD, forgiven sins are remembered no more. (Isaiah 43:35) It is not that GOD can not recall them, but He does not call to mind or think on them as if they still need attention. He is not undecided or unsure if those forgiven sins have really been forgiven. He does not say, “…on second thought perhaps they should be punished after all.” If they have been forgiven, He has justly dealt with them through the cross of the Christ. We may remember a wound we once had, but if it has been healed, we do not look at it as if it still needs attention. Forgiven sin is a wound healed, by the blood of Christ, because of GOD’S amazing grace.
Through His name, (the name of Christ) whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins. Acts 10:43
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Peter told those on Pentecost to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
Accepting GOD’S forgiveness on HIS terms transfers us from a state of death to life. Choose Christ, choose life.
