When GOD Speaks Pride Falls

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace.” (Proverbs 11:2)

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon was the supreme ruler among men of His generation. Even though he had witnessed GOD’s power and was warned from Daniel’s interpretation of his dream, he made a very foolish statement.

“Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty? While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!” Daniel 4:30-31

As Nebuchadnezzar was on earth looking over his kingdom lifted up in pride, the self-existent, eternal GOD of heaven spoke from His sacred and hallowed place, reducing the most powerful king to the then known world, to one like a beast grazing in the fields. Daniel 4:32-33

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)
